Nothing new made this week but plans have been made.
For this week’s Handmade Monday I’ve haven’t gotten anything new made. That’s because I’ve been busy this week making things I have made before, taking new photos of my creations, (almost 120 photos taken!), and writing a blog post about starting your own business. I do know what I’m planning to do this coming week. I’ve seen several photos on the Internet of people making artwork by melting wax crayons While I was out shopping a while ago I was in a shop that sold blank canvases and I wondered if it would be possible to do the same thing with soy wax. I bought a pair of canvases but I haven’t done anything with them yet, so this week I’m going to give it a try.

On the subject of photos, there are so many things you can try to make them look their best, as when it comes to online selling the photo is one of the most important things to do. A bad photo can lose you sales. You can use different coloured backgrounds, (in the past I’ve used white, red, black, blue, silver and purple), different types of lighting, (I find natural sunlight the best), and staging the shot with different props. You could also get artistic with your photgraphy by taking photos with your camera tilted on its side. If you take photos, what do you do to take the best photos? Share your tips with us.
For those in the North-East of England, I’m going to be selling my crafts at a shop called Rosewill Cottage in Whitley Bay. Pop along if you’re in the neighbourhood. You could even apply to have your own pop-up shop if you make something yourself.
To all the fathers, dad, pops and papas out there, have a happy Father’s Day.
